The purpose of this work
I help Christians grow in sound doctrine by recovering the Church’s classic summaries of biblical truth, the creeds and confessions. I gather clear, trustworthy resources across traditions so you can read widely and test everything by Scripture.
Why the creeds?
The early Church summarized the Bible’s teaching to protect and teach the faith. The Apostles’ Creed became a simple, memorable framework that many later confessions expand. Its exact origin is ancient and debated, but its usefulness is proven: it orients us to the gospel of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Think of the creeds as the map and the confessions as detailed guidebooks. Scripture remains the final authority.

Who I am
I’m James Richardson, the writer and curator of Apostles-Creed.org. I’ve worshiped in catholic, evangelical, Baptist, Presbyterian and Nondenominational settings. I’ve studied widely, from the early church fathers to the Puritans to modern commentators. Those experiences convinced me that anchoring our faith in Scripture and the Church’s historic confessions and catechisms guards us from cults and psuedochristianity and deepens our love for Christ.
